Premier Campbell and Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Kevin Falcon start construction on the new 10-lane Port Mann Bridge. Along with 37 kilometres of expansion and upgrade to Highway 1 on both sides of the Fraser River crossing, the bridge will reduce the traffic congestion that costs the economy $1.5 billion per year. Building the new bridge and related highway upgrades will provide more than 8,000 new jobs.
